Homework Policy – Homework is an extension of the work we do in
our class. Students are expected
to self-monitor their homework needs and make appropriate decisions. For example, if a student has an
assignment due on Friday and by the end of school on Thursday he/she has a
great deal still to do, the student will be expected to take the assignment
home to work on it so he/she can complete it by Friday.
Students have a weekly planner sheet in their binder. This is where all homework assignments
are noted as well as the special events for the week i.e. field trips,
assemblies, etc.
In addition to the above use of homework, students are expected to read
independently for at least 30 minutes each evening and practice basic math
facts (if necessary).
Units of Study (Sept. – Oct.)
Reading – Short stories and reading in the content areas. Elements of literature to be studied include plot,
character, setting and theme.

for access from your home computer.
